In May, more than 300 seniors from the Denver Metro area convened on Lutheran Medical Center’s campus for the second annual Seniors’ Resource Fair, cosponsored by Lutheran and the Seniors’ Resource Center.

Mark Koebrich, retired 9News anchor and Senior Source host, kicked off the morning with an interactive presentation leading into a keynote panel, “Making the Transition: An Expert Panel Discussion About Resources, Advice and Options as You Grow Older.”

Attendees were offered free screenings of lung function, blood pressure, foot ulceration and more. New this year, participants enjoyed breakout sessions throughout the day. Cary Johnson of the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office discussed scams targeting seniors; Ian Weber, MD, a complex joint surgeon from Cornerstone Orthopedics, previewed new treatments for hip and knee pain; and Jennifer Hanson with Helping Hands Consulting LLC dispelled myths surrounding Medicaid for long-term care and how to navigate the paperwork that goes with this application. In addition, Bridges Health and Wellness provided classes on acupuncture and massage therapy, aromatherapy, and mindfulness meditation.

Lutheran and the Seniors’ Resource Center would like to thank all attendees and community partners who participated in this event, making it such a success
